About The Founder, Zuzana (Zoozie)

Hi, I'm Zuzana, but you can call me Zoozie. While my accent might give away my roots, my heart belongs to New Zealand. Originally from Slovakia, a small country in the heart of Europe, I followed my father's footsteps and moved to New Zealand in 2013. Little did I know, this beautiful country and its wonderful people would capture my heart and become my home.

My journey into the world of textile design began at Massey University in Wellington, where I discovered my passion for creating unique patterns. Learning the intricacies of textile design and screen printing opened up a world of creativity for me. I dreamed of seeing my designs on clothes, worn by people who appreciate the beauty and effort behind each print.

After completing my studies, I settled in Christchurch. Here, I balance a full-time job with my passion for designing prints, dedicating all my spare time to creating the patterns I love. In May 2021, with the unwavering support of my boyfriend—a fellow creative soul—we launched Zoozies to bring my favourite designs to life and add a splash of colour and joy to people's lives.

Our ethos

At Zoozies, we are committed to supporting local manufacturers and makers. That's why 80% of our garments are made in New Zealand. For the items produced overseas, we ensure they are created under safe and ethical working conditions. Our mission is to craft products that are both long-lasting and timeless.

Inspiration

Every Zoozies design is a labour of love, developed through various mark-making techniques and countless hours of work. Each piece has its own unique story, which we love to share with our customers. You'll find the inspiration behind each print detailed below the product, and we often post behind-the-scenes images to give you a glimpse into our creative process—because a picture tells a thousand words.
